I've blogged before but I haven't blogged like THIS, with the actual possibility of an audience. That might sound strange, but when I've blogged before it's always been to create a we b presence in case someone was interested in what I was doing creatively. This website and the blog attached to it are specifically written to people that will be coming by, expecting something specific. What that exactly will be, I'm still unsure, but I'm excited to find out!
I have a favorite quote from C.S. Lewis:
"Even in literature and art, no man who bothers about originality will ever be original: whereas if you simply try to tell the truth (without caring twopence how often it has been told before) you will, nine times out of ten, become original without ever having noticed it."
And I like to think that it guides at least some of my writing. 'Riding the trends' and 'writing to an audience' is all well and good, but it can trap you and put in some kind of ceiling that shouldn't exist. I won't say everything that I write is original, but I will say that I don't try to be original. That I can commit to. Whether writing in the Re-Telling series or making original stories, I'm writing things that I want to read.
I'm planning to post news about what I'm up to, reviews and things I find interesting on this blog on a regular basis and for those that subscribe to my upcoming newsletter, I'll be adding a bit more PLUS some short stories and flash fiction. I'll be getting a atreon running
